Gower, Lee Richard (19 February 1877 - 29 January 1948)
Lee Gower, 70, has been interred in the Neillsville Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted January 31, (1948), from the Union Methodist Church, Granton. The Rev. F. A. Fahlgren officiated. He died on January 29, (1948), at his home in Granton following a prolonged illness.
Lee Richard Gower was born February 19, 1877, at Houghtonburg to Seth and Jessie Shatswell Gower. He graduated from the Humbird High School, and as a young man engaged in butter-making in the vicinity of Neillsville. On May 10, 1900, he was married to Ida Wilding. For a time he was employed in Alma Center and later erected and operated a creamery north of that village. Upon the death of his father he returned to the home farm in Houghtonburg. A number of years ago he moved to a farm near Neillsville, and more recently he purchased a farm near Granton.
Surviving besides his widow are five children: Irving, who resides on the farm near Granton, Mrs. Harley (Theo) Crume of Neillsville, Mrs. Otto (Vera) Penzenstadler of Waukegan, Ill., Mrs. Lisle (Doris) Armitage of Neillsville, and Glen of Chili.
