Nenahlo, Charles J & Carrie (Golden Anniversary - 1898 - 1948)
Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Nenahlo, 261 North Hewett Street, Neillsville celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, February 8, (1948). The day’s festivities were begun with a Jubilee Mass celebrated at 8 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic Church by the Rev. Fr. John J. Pritzl.
Dinner guests at the home were Rev. Pritzl, Mr. and Mrs. George Reindel and Cy Reindel, Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shefchik and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hannon, Loyal.
Carrie Kubale and Charles J. Nenahlo were born in Reedsville, Manitowoc County, and were married there February 8, 1898. They are the parents of 10 children, four of whom are living. They are: Cecelia, Mrs. Alex Poziombke, Neillsville; Charles, Jr. of Kewaunee; Sister Carolla (Anna), Petoskey, Mich.; and Sister Mary Caroline (Verona) Oshkosh. The daughters were here for the celebration. Charles was unable to be here. Mr. and Mrs. Nenahlo have six grandchildren.
Mr. Nenahlo had purchased a farm near Marshfield and soon after their marriage they settled there. They returned to Reedsville for a few years, where he worked as a cabinetmaker and was engaged for a time in the furniture and undertaking business. They later lived on a farm at Lena, and lived for a time at De Pere and Kewaunee. In 1924, they came to Clark County and purchased the Hoesly farm in Weston, now the home of the Harold Imig family. In 1943, they moved into their present home in Neillsville. He worked here as caretaker at St. Mary’s Church until forced by ill health to resign.
