Josephine (Jarocki) Nakitin, 74, a former Thorp resident, died at East Chicago,
Indiana on Thursday, January 9, 1975.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Hedwig’s
Chapel, with burial being made in the parish cemetery.

Stanley Lato was sworn in January 6, 1975 as State Representative of the 34th
District. He is beginning his first term in the State Assemble. Mrs. Elaine Lato
accompanied Mr. Lato to Madison to witness the ceremony and spend a few days in
Madison acquainting herself with the staff and work Mr. Lato will be doing.
State Representative Lato has been appointed to the Committee on Commerce and
Consumer Affairs, Health and Social Services, and Tourism by Assembly Speaker
Norman Anderson.

Maier, George (4 Aug 1890 – 14 Jan 1975)
George Maier, 84, Thorp, passed away January 14, 1975 at Victory Memorial
Hospital in Stanley.
George was born August 4, 1890 in Thorp to the late John and Margaret Maier. He
was married to Regina Heiman November 27, 1917. They farmed southwest of Thorp
for 40 years, retiring and moving to Thorp in 1957.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
He is survived by his wife, Regina, a brother John of Thorp, and 3 sisters,
Sister Mary Regis of Jefferson, Wisconsin, Mrs. Emma Gregoire of Hilbert,
Wisconsin, and Mrs. Pauline Michaels of Denver, Colorado, and numerous nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Maier and Sister
Mary Leonissa.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 17, 1975 at 10:30 at the St.
Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thorp by Rev. John Puerner and Rev. Michael
Mertens. Burial was in St. Bernard Cemetery, Thorp.
Pallbearers were friends, Larry Fillo and Adolph Koltis, and nephews Francis
Mertens, Elmer Heiman, Norman Maier and Leon Gregoire.
Relatives that attended the funeral from out of town were from, Stanley, Eau
Claire, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Hilbert, Eagle River, Billion, Menasha and Fond du
Lac.

Stanley, fired expert with the M-16 rifle in Germany.
The expert rating is the highest mark a soldier can achieve on his rifle
qualification test.
He is assigned to the 38th Engineer Company.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Bauers, Route 1, Thorp, announce the engagement of their
daughter, Roseann Mary, 703B W. Adler Road, Marshfield, to Thomas Lee Frank,
1003 S. Severns Ave., Marshfield.
The future bride graduated in 1970 from Thorp High School and May 22, 1973 from
St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse
at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Her fiancé, a 1967 graduate of Marshfield Senior High
School and a 1969 graduate of Mid-State Technical Institute, Wisconsin Rapids,
is service manager at Reek Auto Sales.
A March 15, 1975 wedding in Thorp is being planned.

St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thorp was the setting for the December 21, 1974
wedding of Jane Marie Ebben and Daniel Philip Kramer. Rev. John Puerner
performed the ceremony at 3:00 p.m. A reception was held in the church basement.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Ebben, Thorp, and Mr. and Mrs.
Sherman Kramer, 107 South Fancher Road, Racine.
Matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Deborah Seeger, with the bride’s sister,
Pam Ebben, as bridesmaid.
Best man was the groom’s brother, James Kramer, and Wayne Seeger was groomsman.
The bride wore a white velvet gown accented by white lace cuffs and a lace
bodice. Her waist-length veil was held by a French lace cap. The bride’s bouquet
featured red roses surrounded by holly, white baby’s breath, daisies and pompom
mums.
The bridesmaids wore wine velvet gowns accented by a white ruffle along the
V-neckline. They wore red baby’s breath and holly in their hair and carried
white mums.
The groom and groomsmen wore black crushed velvet tuxedos with white ruffled
shirts.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Kramer will reside at 1908 ½ Third Street, Eau Claire,
while they are completing their education at the University of Wisconsin, Eau
Claire.

In an Ecumenical, candlelight service, with original vows, Lynne Ann Patterson
and Francis A. Maslowski were united in holy matrimony December 14, 1974 at 6
p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Jack Olson of Trinity, Eau
Claire, and the Rev. Jeremiah Cashman of Chippewa Fall officiating.
Parents of the couple are Marylou B. Patterson and George G. Patterson, both of
Eau Claire, and Anton Maslowski of Thorp.
Serving as maid of honor for the event was Barbara Pieper of Eau Claire,
together with Debra Holbrook, Eau Claire and Carol Kraft of Madison as
bridesmaids.
Attending the groom as best man was his brother Lawrence Maslowski, Mukwonago,
and groomsmen were his brother Edward, Oconomowoc, and his cousin Donald
Lipinski, Eau Claire. The ushers were Thomas Holbrook of Eau Claire and David
Klehm of Madison.
Providing musical accompaniment were Donna Larsen, organist, and Mary Jane
Lipinski, soloist.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Westgate Sportsmen’s Center,
with dinner and dancing.
After a short wedding trip, the bride will continue to teach special education
at Prescott, Wisconsin, and the groom will serve as social worker at the Alpha
House in Menomonie. The couple will reside in Prescott.
