Haire, Mathilda (19 MAR 1866 - 21 SEP 1947)

Funeral services were held Sept. 24, at the Owen Congregational Church for Mrs. Mathilda Haire, 81, of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.). The Rev. Wm. M. Glick was the officiating pastor. Burial took place in Riverside Cemetery. Mrs. Haire died Sept. 21, 1947 in Owen as the result of a cerebral Hemorrhage.

Mathilda Green was born March 19, 1866, in Moline, Ill. She was married at Moline on Sept. 9, 1884, to James G. Haire, who died in July 1946.

In 1908, Mr. and Mrs. Haire came to Owen, where she has since resided. She was active in church and social work, was a charter member of the ladies aid society of her church. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors and the Order of Eastern Star, acting in various offices in these organization.

Surviving are a daughter, Edna, of Philadelphia, Pa., two sons, Herbert and William of Owen four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. A son, Franklin, died as a small child. Four sisters also are deceased.
