Arlene L. Christman, 86 of Marshfield, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at the Marshfield Center under the care of Ministry Home Care Services.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Trisha Turner officiating. Entombment will be in Hillside Cemetery Mausoleum. Ryan Rhodes, Melvin Henke, Keith Christman, David Bielen, Terry Gotter and Jeff Gotter will serve as the pallbearers. Paul Degenhardt will be an honorary pallbearer.

Visitations will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rembs Funeral Home.

Arlene was born on Aug. 1, 1922, in town of Sherman, Clark County, to Richard and Alvina (Jensen) Gotter.

She was united in marriage to Rupert M. "Mike" Christman on Sept. 8, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. Mike died on Jan. 27, 1998.

Arlene was a member of the Marshfield Eagles Club Auxiliary 624 for 15 years. She was the first person from the Marshfield Auxiliary to be inducted into the Wisconsin State Auxiliary Hall of Fame in 2005. In 1993, she was named Grandmother of the Year. She was also a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she made countless baby quilts for the church.

Arlene is survived by two sons, Steven (Sandra) Christman of Marshfield and Rick (Dale) Christman of Urbandale, Iowa; three grandchildren, Mark (Jennifer) Christman of Elkhorn, Jan Christman of Marshfield, and Bruce (Heather) Christman of Shakopee, Minn.; six great-grandchildren, Cayla Quist, Cassie Maddox, Evan Christman, Joseph Christman, Drew and Tanner Christman.

She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Claudine Gotter of Eau Claire and Helen Christman of Hartford; and a brother-in-law, Paul Degenhardt of Marshfield.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lorene Luchterhand and Elaine P. Degenhardt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Celen (Harriet) Gotter, Harvey (Ruth) Gotter, Rueben (Ruth) Gotter, Ronald (Germaine) Gotter and Elroy Gotter.

Arlene's family would like to thank Marshfield Care Center, Bethel Care Center, Ministry Home Care Services, Saint Joseph's Palliative Care and Faith Lutheran Church for all their support and love.

A memorial will be established at a later date.
