Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Rembs Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark A. Krueger officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post No. 54 of Marshfield.

Visitations will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, and again from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday, both at the funeral home.

Eddie was born Nov. 26, 1917, in Spencer to Henry and Mary (Stochek) Mueller. He graduated from McKinley High School in Marshfield in 1936.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from January 1941 until his honorable discharge in June 1945. He served in Australia and New Guinea with the 135th Medical Regiment and also played clarinet in the military band. After his discharge from the Army, he joined the National Guard and retired as a First Sergeant.

He married Nina Wildish in 1954, and they later divorced.

He enjoyed socializing with friends and family, dancing, playing sheepshead, cribbage and solitaire. Eddie built and flew one- and two-seat ultra-lights for several years. When not socializing with friends and family, he spent his time fishing and woodworking.

In 1953, Eddie bought land and built his current home on the shores of the Big Eau Pleine Flowage and loved the land and water.

Eddie cherished time with his children, grandchildren and one great-grandson. His face lit up when they were around.

Eddie is survived by his children, Cheri (Dave) Willman of Spencer, Jim (Shari) Mueller of Auburndale, and Jayne (Jerome) Sternweis of Friendship; four grandchildren, Stacy Kappel of Marshfield, Tammy Kappel of Eau Claire, Tyler Mueller of Auburndale and Lindsey Urlaub of Littleton, Colo.; and one great-grandson, Gage Bach of Marshfield. He is further survived by one brother, Donald (Pat) Mueller of Marshfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Evelyn Caple and Sylvia Cepress. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com.
