Rauscher, Ruth H. (13 DEC 1947)

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rauscher of 7753 Cornell Ave., Chicago, Ill., announce the marriage of their daughter, Ruth Helene, to Melvin L. Elmhorst, so of Mrs. Clara Elmhorst, of 7552 Chaplain Ave. The groom and his mother formerly resided in Granton (Clark Co., Wis.).

The couple was united in marriage in a double ring service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Chicago, Dec. 13, 1947, by Rev. Edwin Pfug.

The bride’s gown, made by the mother of the groom, was of white bridal satin with a sweetheart neckline and long sleeves coming to a point at the wrist. The petite princess lines fell in folds to the floor. At the waist a peplum fell over the hips about 12 inches in front and continued on in back into a seven foot train. Her finger tip veil hung from a Jliet cap of veiling and seed pearls, a gift of the groom. White roses and white baby mums formed the bridal bouquet. It was tied with white satin and streamers of lilies of the valley fell floor length.

The sister of the bride, Mrs. Dorothy Nelson, was matron of honor, while a friend of the bride, Miss Bettie Marsden, was bridesmaid. The groom had as his attendants, Elmer Neilsen, best man,a nd Charles Lapp.

A reception followed the ceremony with about 200 guests.

The couple spent the weekend at the Southmoor Hotel, Chicago, and is now honeymooning at the groom’s former home town.

The bride, who has been employed at C. & W. electric Specialty Co., and the groom, who is now attending a radio and electronic school, will reside at 7552 Champlain Avenue, Chicago, until after his graduation.
