Mathews, Betty Lou (Marriage - 29 May 1948)
Miss Betty Lou Mathews, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. B. Mathews of Loyal, became the bride of Leonard J. Rueth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rueth of loyal, in a double ring ceremony May 29 (1948) at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal. Fr. Aloys Zinthefer officiated at the wedding.
The bride, given away by her father, wore the traditional white satin gown, long-sleeved, with a full-length veil trimmed with lace, falling from an orange blossom headdress. She carried a bouquet of Jonathon Hill roses, Easter lilies and lilies of the valley, arranged shower-style. Her maid-of-honor was Miss Helen Langfelt, and her bridesmaids, Doris Bauer, and Mrs. Robert Lulloff. Raymond Miller was bestman, and the ushers were Vincent Brown, Robert Lulloff, Franklin Rueth, and John Elsinger, Jr. Little Larry Rueth was the ring bearer and Jeanette Elsinger was flower girl.
A wedding breakfast was given at the home of the bride’s parents, and dinner and supper for 75 guests were served at the home of Mrs. Rosland Miller, a sister of the groom. From out of town came the bride’s paternal grandmother, Mrs. Jerome Mathews of Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wincentsen of Wittenburg, Wis., maternal grandparents of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Mathews of Black River Falls; Miss Marjie Wincentsen of Wittenburg; and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lye of Chili. A wedding dance at the Silver Dome rounded out the evening.
