Cook, Virginia Lee (Marriage - 24 Oct. 1956)
Miss Virginia Lee Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Cook of Unity, and Wallace A. Carlson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Carlson of Unity, were united in marriage in the Methodist church in Unity Saturday afternoon, Rev. Dwight Jarvis reading the marriage ceremony. Miss Faye Helterhoff of West Allis, a cousin of the bridegroom, was maid of honor and Miss Gloria Hanson of Unity was bridesmaid. David Carlson of Unity, a cousin of the bridegroom, was his best man and Earl Cook of Marshfield, the bride’s brother, served as groomsman. Phillip and Carla Carlson of Marshfield, Route 4, the bridegroom’s nephew and niece, were the ring bearer and flower girl.
The full-length bridal gown was of lace over taffeta with long sleeves and a scalloped neckline as bodice details. Skirt accent was a spray of pleated nylon in the front. White ivory ribbons tied the bridal bouquet of red roses and white carnations. Her attendants wore ballerina-length gowns, princess style, in forest green and pumpkin crystalette, respectively, and were complimented by the fall colors of their bouquets and headbands, comprised of carnations and pompoms.
The newlyweds returned Monday to their work in Milwaukee where they will be residing at Veterans Deluxe Mobile Park, 2100 W. College Ave.
The bride is a graduate of Colby High School and Northwest Instititute of Technology in Minneapolis. The groom is a graduate of Unity High School and is employed by A. F. Gallum and Son of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
