Laager, Jacob (27 April 1862 - 23 June 1948)

Jacob Laager, 86, of Seif Township, died Wednesday June 23, 1948, in the Neillsville hospital. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. at the Cole Funeral Home, with the Rev. George W. Longenecker officiating. Burial took place in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Carl Eslinger, Godfred Gysin, John Putz, William Sollberger and John Sollberger. Miss Carole Want sang "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages." She was accompanied by Mrs. Millard Cole at the piano.

From out of town came Mr. and Mrs. Fred Laager of Eau Claire; John Laager of Colton, Cal.; Mrs. Albert Lenz of Davenport, Ia. and Mrs. Byron Hughes of Chicago. Fred and John Laager are sons of the deceased and Mrs. Lenz and Mrs. Hughes are daughters.

Mr. Laager was born in Switzerland on April 27, 1862. He came to Clark County some time prior to 1903, in which year he was married to Arvilla Metcalf, in Neillsville. He had eight children, all of whom survive him (the balance of the obituary was cut off).
