Funeral services for Roy C. Peterson, 68, of Abbotsford,
who died of a heart attack at his farm home in the town of Green Grove early
Thursday afternoon, May 13, were held Monday afternoon.
The Rev Lillian Jensen of the Assembly of God church
conducted the services at 2 o’clock at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford.
Mrs. James Daellenbach and Mrs. Myron Greaser sang
“Whispering Hope” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere”.
Mrs. Daellenbach also was the organist and accompanist.
The pallbearers for the interment which was made in the
Abbotsford cemetery were Floyd Buchanan, W. O. Colby, William Erickson, Harry
Fristad, Arnold Kueng and Ernest Stover.
Mr. Peterson was born Oct. 25, 1896, at Preemption, Ill.,
and later came to the Owen area where he received his education.
He was a veteran of World War I.
Mr. Peterson was employed as a garage mechanic in the
Owen and Withee area until 1927 when he came to Abbotsford.
In 1934 he began operation of his own garage and continued at that until
his retirement in 1952.
He and Edna Adams of Abbotsford were married May 8, 1929,
in Minneapolis.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Arthur, at Rockford,
Minn., and two daughters, Mrs. George (Barbara) Peterson, Minneapolis, and
Carla, at home, and nine grand children.
He also leaves two brothers, Swan and Walter, of Owen.
Preceding him in death were a son, Carl, and a brother.
Relatives and friends from away who were here for the
funeral came from Rockford, Minneapolis and Rochester, Minn., Swedona and Orion,
Ill., Wauwatosa, West Allis, Hancock, Owen, Curtiss, Hammond, Boyd, Eau Claire,
Marshfield, Unity, Greenwood, Colby and Wausau.
