Patterson, Vivian (Lohnis) (6 NOV 1921 - 19 AUG 2013)

Vivian Patterson, 91, Medford, died on Monday, Aug. 19 at Our House Assisted Living in Medford, where she had resided the past year.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22 at United Methodist Church in Medford, with Rev. Kyochul Shin officiating and Rev. Bob Linaberry-Charis delivering the eulogy.

Interment will be at Perkinstown Community Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Jayce Patterson, Jacqui Patterson, Bruce Johnson, Justin Pederson, Chris Wilhorn and Tatianna Donaldson.

Honorary pallbearers are Patricia Stoker, Kay Heglund, Evelyn "Babe" Marcott, Marv Lang Jr., Mary Vidal, Rev. Bob Linaberry-Charis, Brad Kennedy, Duane Schuster, Mark Patterson and Keith Haizel.

Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford on Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 4 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

The former Vivian Lohnis was born on November 6, 1921 in Bloomer to the late Henry and Violet (Wagner) Lohnis. She attended Gilman and Hannibal elementary schools and was a 1940 graduate of Hannibal High School. She worked as a linotype operator at The Star News in Medford from 1942 to 1947.

On August 8, 1947 in Duluth, Minn., she married Donald W. Patterson, who preceded her in death on May 6, 1991. They lived in Ely, Minn., for one year, then returning to Medford where she worked as a housewife and mother. After her children were in school, she went back to work at The Star News until retirement in 1978, working there a total of 28 years.

She was a member of United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening and her many friendships including those she made as a member of the Ladies Church Group and Keenagers.

Survivors include five children, Donna Cochran and Jack (Linda) Patterson, both of Medford, Chad Patterson of Okeechobee, FL, Lana (Mike) Fanning of Wisconsin Rapids and Jill Hernandez of Menasha; a sister, Carol (Edward) Johnson of Hermantown, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Stoker of Hammond, Ind., and Veronica Patterson of Medford; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mavis Donaldson in 1995, and a sister, Jeanette Hooverson in 1986.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the family for future designation.
