Woempner, Fred H. (29 Dec. 1884 - 18 Aug. 1956)
Fred H. Woempner, retired carpenter and farmer, died Saturday morning at his home in Abbotsford at the age of 71 years, a lingering illness being the cause of his death. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Christ Lutheran church in Abbotsford, Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiating, and internment was made in the Memorial cemetery at Dorchester, Wis.
Mr. Woempner was born in the town of Mayville on December 29, 1884. He combined carpentry and farming until 1946 when he built a new home in Abbotsford where he and his wife lived in retirement the past 10 years. He and the former Helene Benzman were married on September 26, 1911, at St. Peter’s Lutheran church in Dorchester of which he was a member.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Joel E. (Alma) Skogg of Prentice and Mrs. Wilmer (Alice) Paul of Curtiss, and three grand children. Three children, Alfred, Clarence and Rosalie, a brother, Charles, and a sister, Bertha, preceded him in death.
