Shirley A. Thieme,
70, Town of Greenwood, died on Monday, Aug. 5 at Golden LivingCenter in Rib
Lake, where she had resided the past three weeks.
Funeral services will
be held on Monday, Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church
in Goodrich, with Rev. Joseph Dietrich officiating.
Visitation will be
held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with
arrangements.
The former Shirley Hahn was born on March 30, 1943 in
Stratford to the late Gerhardt F. and Pauline A. (Greenberg) Hahn. She attended
Stratford Area Schools.
On October 8, 1960 at St. Peter Church in
Stratford, she married Leroy H. Thieme. She worked at Marathon Cheese in
Medford, Dorchester and Marathon City. She worked as a CNA at the Medford and
Rib Lake nursing homes, and also in retail grocery at Medford County Market as
well as Ed's IGA in Rib Lake.
She was a member of St. Andrew Evangelical
Lutheran Church and St. Andrew and St. Peter Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening,
her large abundant flower and herbal beds, as well as homesteading in her log
house her husband built for her.
Survivors include her husband of 52
years, Leroy H. Thieme of Medford; two daughters, Candy (Ed) Parks of Medford
and Kim (significant other Jon Lanius) Thieme of Ogema; four siblings, Leona
(Dave) Perlock of Stratford, Bonnie (Joe) Peters of Auburndale, Bernice Fink of
Woodruff and Ray Hahn of Crandon; two brothers-in-law, Clarence Thieme and Ray
Peche, both of Rib Lake; six grandchildren, Anna (Todd) Bowholtz of Stevens
Point, Aaron (Rachel) Parks of Stetsonville, Amanda (significant other Jeremiah
Tietz) Parks of Wausau, Matthew Parks of Medford, Ashley (Jeremia) Nowak of
Curtiss and Courtney (James) Cook of Rib Lake; nieces and nephews; and other
relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by a brother, Jerry Hahn; parents-in-law, Art and Dorothy Thieme;
brother-in-law, Ray "Fuzzy" Fink; and two sisters-in-law, Susan Thieme and
Gloriette Peche.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Shirley's
family to be designated at a later date.
