Vine, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest (Golden - 30 June 1970)
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Vine of Neillsville observed their Golden wedding
anniversary last Sunday at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Vine, in Granton. A picnic supper was served for approximately 120
guests. Friends and relatives were from Marshfield, Waukesha, Milwaukee,
Wisconsin Rapids, Elgin, Ill., Duluth, Minn., Granton and Neillsville.
The Vines were married June 30, 1920, at the home of Mrs. Vine’s parents, Mr.
and Mrs. August Roder, in Neillsville. The Rev. Louie B. Coleman performed the
ceremony and the attendants were William Vine and Miss Ruby Stearns.
They
farmed in the Town of Grant all of their lives and moved to Neillsville in
August of 1968. They now live at 200 West First Street. They have one son,
Gordon, who lives in the Town of Grant, and five grandchildren.
Mr. Vine
is a veteran of World War I and was wounded while fighting and then was taken to
Italy. He is a member of the Haugen-Richmond Post, American Legion No. 73.
Mrs. Vine is a member of the Legion Auxiliary, and the sewing circle of the
United Church of Christ. She also has been a member of the Pleasant Ridge
Homemakers for the last 30 years. Her hobbies are gardening and sewing.
