Stilwill, Mary A.. (30 Dec 1836 - 4 Jan 1907)
Passing
Away of Mrs. E.G. Cole
Caused by Heart Trouble. Funeral Held Monday
Afternoon at House.
Mary A. Stilwill, wife of Dr. E.G. Cole, passed
peacefully away at their home in this village, at about 7 o’clock Friday
morning. Some two years ago she suffered a severe illness from which she never
fully recovered her normal strength. About six weeks ago symptoms of heart
trouble developed and the ebbing of the year found her in a greatly weakened
condition, while the New Year proved but the dawning of a new life for her.
The deceased was born in Matteawan, Duchess County, N.Y., Dec. 30, 1836, and
married to Dr. E.G. Cole at Byron, Wis., in 1856, their fiftieth wedding
anniversary being passed last February.
Mrs. Cole has been associated
with Fairchild since its very infancy, having spent thrity-eight years of her
married life here. She was a woman of strong domestic habits, devoted to her
home and family and finding her greatest happiness therein, yet always ready and
glad to welcome a friend. Her husband and three children, Mrs. E.J. Foster of
this village, Vincent Cole of Salem, Ore. and Alley Cole of Portland, Ore., are
left with many friends to mourn her loss.
The funeral was held at the
house on Monday afternoon, Rev. Guy Campbell of Hudson, conducting the service.
Interment was made in the home cemetery.
