Frank Benish and wife returned New Year’s day from Rochester,
Minn., where Mr. Benish underwent an operation. He is now on the way to what is
hoped will be a complete recovery.
Rudolph Zeller, Sr. was arrested last
Friday on complaint of Game Warden Robt. Mason, of Black River Falls. The
specific charge was shipping a box of rabbits in which was concealed five
partridges. The box was opened at Madison and Mr. Zeller’s arrest followed soon
after. He entered a plea of guilty to the charge, but claimed that he, himself,
was innocent, that a minor son of the same name was the one who shipped the
game. Justice Travis imposed the lightest punishment prescribed by law – a fine
of $50 or sixty days in jail. As Mr. Zeller was really an innocent party the
fine was remitted upon his promise to keep a sharp lookout in the future on his
boys’ actions. He paid the costs incurred, which were nominal.
A number
of new cases of measles are reported.
Mrs. G.H. Horrell has entirely
recovered from the diphtheria and no other cases are reported.
