Gilbert, John (Jun 1837 – 29 Apr 1907)

John Gilbert, of Augusta, died Monday April 29 of paralysis at the age of 69 years and 11 months. The funeral was held at the home, Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Fisher officiating and burial was made in the Augusta cemetery.

Mr. Gilbert was a veteran of the civil war and a member of John E. Perkin’s Post of this city. He was a man of the strictest integrity, a kind and indulgent husband and father and was highly regarded by all who knew him.

He is survived by a wife, four sons and one daughter; also a brother at Reeds City, Mich., and a sister at Sioux City, Iowa. The bereaved family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.
