Strey, Albert Bernard (? - February 1949)

Albert Bernard Strey, 62, of West Allis, died of a heart attack while at work there last Tuesday.

Funeral services were held in West Allis Friday. He was then brought here and lay in state at the Georgas Funeral Home until 2 o’clock Saturday, when services were conducted. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

The Rev. H. T. Bernthal of Greenfield Lutheran Church of West Allis was officiating clergyman.

Albert Strey was born in the Town of Grant. He received his education in the rural schools there.

On April 28, 1909, he was married to Ida Thomas in Neillsville. He purchased a farm in the Town of York, near Loyal and this was their home until about five years ago, when they moved to West Allis, their son, Arthur taking over the responsibilities of the farm.

He was a member of the Greenfield Lutheran Church of West Allis. At the time of his death he was employed by the Wisconsin Motor Company.

He is survived by his wife and son, Arthur of Loyal; two sisters, Mrs. William (Emma) Kauffman of Pasadena, Cal.; and Miss Mathilda Strey of Milwaukee; two brothers, Robert Strey of Loyal; and William Strey of Granton; and three grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Miss Rose Neuhaus and Miss Hazel Millard sang two selections accompanied by Mrs. Florence Counsell at the piano.

Pallbearers, all nephews of the deceased were: Robert Strey, Jr., Raymond Strey, Victor Strey, Ceylon Strey, Earlen Strey and Ernest Strey. Flower girls were Norma and LeVerne Strey, Donna Mae and Darlene Gotter, Shirley Domine and Mrs. Ed Frei.

Out-of-town people who attended the service were: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Strey and Robert Strey, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Strey, Mr. and Mrs. Milan Matonich, Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Domine, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schlinsog, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hubing, Ronald Domine and Mrs. Elsie Gotter, all of Loyal; Russell and Jack Thomas, Hurley; Mr. and Mrs. Earlen Strey and Ernest Strey, Augusta; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Strey, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Strey, William Strey, Mr. and Mrs. R. Dietrich and Marion, all of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hohenstein, Vesper; and Mr. and Mrs. Bolster and daughter of Cary Bluff.
