Laffe, Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard (Golden - 3 June 1970)
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Laffe quietly
celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary June 3, by taking a drive through
some of our scenic county and calling on his sister, Mary in Neillsville.
Mr. Laffe is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Laffe. A veteran of
World War I, he entered the lumber yard business and owned the Taylor lumber
yard before retiring a few years ago.
Mrs. Laffe is the former Mayme
Iffland, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Iffland. After retiring they
bought a home in Humbird.
Mr. and Mrs. Laffe have a son, Sheldon, of
Montezuma, Ia., and a daughter, Joyce, Mrs. Glen Hoeth of Sandy, Ore., who were
unable to be here on June 3, so they planned to come and host a surprise
observance for their parents on Sunday, June 21, which was held in the American
Legion Hall. Everyone working together made the event almost a total surprise.
Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Laffe and three children of
Montezuma, Ia.; Mrs. Glen (Joyce) Hoeth and three daughters of Sandy, Ore.; Mr.
and Mrs. Orrin Wold, Gordon and John of Disco; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Michels,
Alma Center; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hoeth and Otto Hoeth, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Haag
and Scoot, La Crosse; Mrs. Emma Haag and Leonard, Melrose; Mr. and Mrs. O.
Herrick, Augusta; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sutton, Merrillan; and Mrs. Esther Haugstad,
Black River Falls.
The cake was brought here by the Sheldon Laffe’s from
Montezuma, Ia.
