Christie, Freeman A. (20 April
1883 - 19 July 1970)
Funeral services for Freeman A. Christie, 87, of
Neillsville, who died July 19, will be held today (Thursday) at 1:30 p.m. from
the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. William Dushek will officiate. Burial will be
made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Christie was born April 20, 1883, to
Samuel and Adeline (McKim) Christie in the Town of Weston. He was educated in
Clark County and attended Uncle Sam School.
He married the late Elizabeth
McConnell on December 11, 1907, in Greenwood. They logged in northern Wisconsin
and later farmed south of Greenwood. They moved to Neillsville in 1940 and
operated a service station with his son Eugene, until 1957. He suffered a stroke
in July, 1965, and had been a resident of Memorial Home since.
Survivors
include six children: Ernest of La Crosse, Eugene of Neillsville, Arthur of
Greenwood, John of Anoka, Minn., Mrs. Mary Schullo of Minneapolis, Minn., and
Mrs. Arlene Lobner of Wisconsin Rapids; a brother, Hugh of Greenwood; 19
grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
