Garbisch, Henry (4 February 1873 - 28 March 1949)
Henry Garbisch, 76, resident of Granton for many years, died Monday at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Rev. and Mrs. Alfred Walkenhauer, at Auroraville, where he had been residing the past few years.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton, and at 2 p.m. from the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Arthur Oswald officiated. Interment was made in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Garbisch was born in the Town of Grant February 14, 1873. He received his education in the schools there.
On March 2, 1897, he was united in marriage to Christina Gluck in the Town of Grant. In 1947 Mr. and Mrs. Garbisch celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Mr. Garbisch was an active church member and served on the school board for 30 years.
He was forced to discontinue farming due to ill health. His son, Edward, took over the farm in 1943.
Surviving besides his widow are seven children: Arnold and Daniel of Granton; Edward on the home farm; Mrs. Henry (Clara) Helm, Town of Grant; Mrs. H. A. (Ella) Ross, Steves Point; Mrs. Louis (Adelia) Helm, Town of Grant; and Mrs. Alfred (Florence) Walkenhauer, Auroraville. Twenty-four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Campbell of Duluth; and three brothers, Paul, Town of Grant; Richard of Missouri and Robert of Marshfield.
Five sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.
