Winters,
Mr./Mrs. J.M. (50th – 14 Apr 1916)
On Friday Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Winters
celebrated the 50th wedding anniversary of their marriage at their home in
Washburn and about 80 guests assembled at their home in the afternoon and
assisted in making the day a memorable one to both Mr. and Mrs. Winters and to
those who were there. Mr. and Mrs. Winters were united in marriage at Farmington
in Waupaca County and they came to Clark County 48 years ago last November and
settled on a homestead in town Washburn. Three years later they bought a farm on
the Cunningham, which has remained their home ever since. Mr. Winters is a Civil
War veteran and one of the most pleasing features of the celebration Friday was
the singing of National songs and familiar airs which were dear to the hearts of
the couple. Mr. and Mrs. Winters have been prominent figures in church, social
and public life in town of Washburn for many years and during that time they
have established themselves in a position which has commanded the love, esteem
and respect of everybody and all their friends joined Friday in making their
golden wedding day one of extreme enjoyment to all.
