South Hull, Wis. - Nov. 20, 1919
Miss Mary Brady and county agent F. G. Swoboda of Wausau gave a very interesting and instructive talk at the Rasmussen school house last Friday evening. Miss Brady talked on the advantages of hot lunches for the school children and Mr. Swoboda’s talk was on "Good roads and soils." He stated that the Lord surely blessed Marathon county when he made this soil. There was also a fine program by the school, and a few outsiders, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all present.
Mrs. Bruno Sommers, who has been staying with her daughter, Rose at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital since Tuesday, Nov. 11th, returned to her home last Friday. She reports that her daughter, though very ill, is doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances. Rose has always been a sufferer from asthma which makes this operation for appendicitis doubly hard on her. We all hope for her speedy recovery, and a quick return home.
Miss Florence Forbish received a letter this week from her parents who are making an extended visit out in Minn., Iowa and the Dakotas, and among the many interesting things they write are, "We are snowed in, a regular blizzard is raging, no mail, train service crippled, but as soon as we can tunnel out we are coming home, back to old Wisconsin." They are expected home this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wirth, who recently sold their farm in this neighborhood, have purchased a 3 acre truck farm with a nice little bungalow on within one mile of Wausau, and are busy this week moving their household goods.
This neighborhood was well represented at the Rex last Friday evening where the production "Prunella" was given for the benefit of the High School Athletic association.
Mrs. Flossie Dallman, who has been visiting at the Davis and Dallman homes during the past week or so, returned to her home in Unity Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gosse and daughter, Esther of Colby, and Fred Oleson of Granton, were guests at the Henry Ortmeier home last Saturday.
Bert Pope and Edwin Dallmann went up north Wednesday evening on a deer hunting trip.
James Allen of Colby spent Sunday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Dick Brotherton.
Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Smith called on Mr. and Mrs. Schmutzler, one day last week.
Alvin Schroeder spent the week end at his home near Marshfield.
