Bahr, Ferdinand (19 MAR 1850 - 1 MAR 1938)

RITES HELD FOR FERDINAND BAHR

Funeral services were held Friday, March 4, for Ferdinand Bahr, who died Tuesday, March 1, at the age of 87 years, at his home in Milan. The Rev. George Groh officiated at rites at the home at 1:30 and at Bethlehem Lutheran church at 2 o’clock. Interment was made in the Milan Lutheran cemetery.

Those who acted as pallbearers were Martin Ellingson, Paul Benzmann, Charles Schmidt, L. A. Jurgemeyer, Emil Schade and William Krause.

Mr. Bahr had been in poor health for the past two years and was seriously ill for about nine months. His death was attributed to old age and complications.

Ferdinand Bahr was born in Koenigsburg, Germany, March 19, 1850. He was married to Amelia Aust (?) at Zinder, Germany, on July 25, 1876. The couple came to America from Germany in 1891. They made their home at Waukesha for about 13 years and then came to the vicinity east of Milan, where they lived until 1925, on the farm now occupied by his son, Fred. At this time he retired from farming and moved to Milan to make his home.

The deceased was a charter member and a faithful member of the Lutheran church at Milan and was known as a kind and loving husband and father and a fine neighbor.

On July 25, 1926, Mr. and Mrs. Bahr were privileged to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Their children and grand children were present for this occasion.

Surviving are his widow, Amelia; the following children: Mrs. Edward McKee, Athens; Mrs. Amelia Harry, at home; Fred Bahr, Athens; Mrs. George Blank, Milan; Mrs. George Kreuger, Athens; Mrs. Louis Johnson, Wauwatosa, 19 (?) grand children and nine great grand children.

Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Engel and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stelzel, Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wallner, Green Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Eggebrecht, Wausau; Miss Marcia Blank, Menominee; Miss Evelyn Bahr, Milwaukee; Mrs. Charles Underwood and son, Charles, Goodrich; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Jari and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Jari, Medford.
