Roberts, Lawrence (13 JUN 1921 - 27 MAY 1946)

Capt. Lawrence Roberts, 24, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Hansen of this city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.), was instantly killed when his plane crashed at the Quantico Air Base at Quantico, Virginia, Monday, May 27th, 1946.

Captain Roberts was a member of the United States Marines, having enlisted in that branch of the service shortly after Pearl Harbor. He distinguished himself in action while serving overseas at Bougainville and in flights over Rabaul, in the Pacific area.

Military rites were conducted for him Wednesday at the Quantico, Virginia, after which his remains were sent to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon L. Roberts at Redwood City, Calif. He would have been 25 years of age on June 13.

During the first week of February Captain Roberts and his wife, Dorothy, spent about ten days visiting in the city at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Hansen.

Mrs. Roberts will remain at Quantico where she is under the care of a physician, and return to Owen after her expected child is born.

Friends of Mrs. Roberts in Owen are grieved to learn of the sudden loss of her husband, and extend to her their most sincere sympathies.
