Evanson, Syneva (10 March 1889 - 24 June 1970)
Funeral services for Mrs.
Edwin (Syneva) Evanson, 81, of Neillsville, who died here June 24, were held
Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville. The Rev.
Daniel Litzer officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Evanson was born March 10, 1889, to Johann and Sigrid (Moe) Breiseth in
Valders, Norway. She came to the United States at the age of 16 and lived in
Rhinelander and attended business school there. After her marriage to Edwin
Evanson on July 16, 1909, they moved to Argyle, then came to Clark County in
1919 and farmed here until 1946, when they retired and moved into Neillsville.
Mrs. Evanson was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, the Women’s Guild,
American Legion, V.F.W. Women’s Relief Corps, and the Royal Neighbors of
America.
Survivors include: Mrs. Arne (Agnes) Matheson of Waukesha;
Orville and Roland, both of Wausau; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Marit) Grundahl of
Mt. Horeb and Mrs. Knute (Cari) Haroldson of Marshfield; 14 grandchildren; and
10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bennie, Raymond, Amos and Milo
Grundahl, Douglas Haroldson and Orlean Kammerud. Frederick Kieser sang, “Beyond
the Sunset” and “Nearer My God to Thee,” accompanied by Miss Marilyn Galstad.
