Freitag, Lorraine (19 DEC 1946)
On Thursday, Dec. 19th, 1946, at Chicago, Ill., Miss Lorraine Freitag, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Freitag, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Wm. Eugene King of Mouton, Iowa, in a quiet ceremony, attended by only close friends of the young people.
The bride chose for the memorable occasion a formal gown of light blue, while her attendant, Helen Winters, wore a gown similarly designed, of peach. Both the bridegroom and his best man, George Vanlow, wore their army uniforms.
For five years previous to this spring, the bride had made her home at Withee, where she attended the Withee High School, graduating with the class of last May. Since that time she has been employed on the north side of Chicago.
The bridegroom’s home is at Moulton, Iowa, where he gained his schooling, having graduated in 1942.
Since that time he has served with the United States Armed forces with the army for more than four years, three of which were spent overseas. On the 13th of December he was given his discharge and is now enjoying his terminal leave.
During the holiday season the newlyweds visited at Withee with her parents and are now at Moulton visiting at his home. As yet they do not know definitely where they will establish their future home, as Mr. King is under contract to the St. Louis Browns of the American League and will report for spring training in February.
