The large audience room of St. Joseph’s church was
completely filled Tuesday morning at nine o’clock by friends and relatives to
witness the marriage of Miss Clara Sybilla Fassbender of this city to Mr. Frank
J. Scheffer of Fairchild, Rev. C.F. Schmidt, assisted by Rev. Van Helden,
officiating.
The church was splendidly decorated with flowers and
streamers reaching from the arch, beneath which the wedding party were
stationed, to different points in the sanctuary. The witnesses were Messrs
Joesph V. Scheffer and Roman Fassbender and Misses Emma Fassbender and Theresa
Scheffer, Clara Prock, Alta Qualy, Catherine Hauck and Leontine Demers acted as
flower girls. The bride was elegantly gowned in white silk trimmed with lace. A
bridal bouquet of roses and a veil completed a most pleasing picture.
A
wedding dinner was served at 5:30 at the Fassbender residence to the following
guests: Joseph V. Scheffer, Misses Ada, Mary and Theresa Scheffer Mr. Andrew
Bever, Misses Theresa and Emma Bever of Fairchild; Mr. and Mrs. Eugena David of
Solon Springs; Misses Anna Songer, Paula Zobel and Caroline Kleiner of Bloyd;
and Miss Leonella Wehling of Oshkosh. Those present from this city were
Reverends Schmit and Van Helden, Judge and Mrs. M.P. Barry, Messrs and Mesdames
Henry Schneider, Nick Ludwig, Jacob Maier, Misses Mary and Kate Velten, Clara
Ludwig, Calista Couture, Mabel Scharlow, Lizzie Meir, Florence Berthiaume, Clara
Mitchel and Messrs. Chas. and Edward Ludwig. The dining room was decorated in
white and pink and the presents were practical, costly and numerous.
Mr.
and Mrs. Scheffer left on the Limited in the evening on a wedding journey which
will include the cities of Eau Claire, Oshkosh, Milwaukee, Grand Rapids, Mich.,
and Chicago. They will be at home to their friends at Fairchild after October
1st.
