Miss Olive Frances Swenson and Arno Edwin Jess were married at 4 o’clock, in Christ Church Cathedral, Eau Claire. The Very Rev. Gordon Brant performed the double ring ceremony. Miss Svenson, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sven Svenson of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), is an instructor in the Luther Hospital School of Nursing in Eau Claire. Mr. Jess is the son of Mrs. Alma Jess of Janesville.
Preceding the ceremony, Cecil Neubecker played organ music. Lorraine Hennig, a student at Luther Hospital, sang "The Lord’s Prayer."
Attendants at the wedding were the brother-in-law and sister of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond O’Neil, and Mr. and Mrs. Orien Howard of Eau Claire. Three year old Pamela Howard, the godchild of the bride, acted as ring bearer.
The bride wore a white marquisette gown made with short puff sleeves. She wore long white gloves. Her veil was held by a halo of white roses. She carried a bouquet of white roses.
Mrs. O’Neil wore a gown of yellow marquisette and Mrs. Hoard wore blue. Each carried a colonial bouquet of spring flowers. Pamela wore a long white dress and a white net veil.
After the ceremony, a reception was held in the guild hall. Miss Irma Leino of Luther Hospital was in charge. Miss Agnes Newbord and Mrs. H. C. Olson presided at the coffee table. Mrs. Wortham, a sister of the bride, served the wedding cake, which was of three layers, decorated in white and pink rosebuds and a bride and groom silver bell.
Out of town guests at the wedding besides the parents of the bride and groom, were the bride’s brother in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Home Wortham, and their daughters, Donna and Carol of Winthrop Harbor, Ill., her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Anderson of Cheyenne, N.D., and Miss Edna Ehlers of Minneapolis.
Pre-nuptial events were a tea given by the hospital staff on April 3, and a bridge shower, given by Mrs. H. S. Olson and Mrs. Orien Howard on April 8.
After a short wedding trip to Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Jess have returned to Eau Claire. Mrs. Jess will continue to teach at the school of nursing until June, when the couple will set out for a trip west.
