Gumz, William J. (10 Mar. 1940 - 4 Oct. 2008)

DORCHESTER -- William "Bill" J. Gumz, 68, of the town of Holton, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Peace United Church of Christ in Dorchester, Wis. Interment will be in Dorchester South Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church in Dorchester, Wis.

He was born March 10, 1940, in the town of Holton to William A. and Selma Mabel (Blazel) Gumz. He married Dawn E. Nelson on July 10, 1971, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford. He purchased his family's dairy farm in the mid 1960s and operated it with his wife and children until his retirement in January 2008.

Bill is survived by his wife, Dawn E. Gumz, Dorchester; children Bruce (Jolene) Gumz, Amy (Cory) Broeske, Beth (Kevin) Kosik and Julie Gumz, all of Dorchester; and four grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Esther Kreklau, Stetsonville, Eugene (Barbara) Gumz and Leonard Gumz, all of Colby, and Betty (Jerry) Gebert, Lake Holcombe.
