Abbotsford, Wis. -- Walter L. Pawlukiewicz, 85, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at the Oakwood Villa in Altoona.
Arrangements are pending.
Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home Abbotsford is assisting the family with arrangements.

Walter L. Pawlukiewicz, 86, of Withee, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at the Oakwood Villa in Altoona.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Walter will be Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. Father Benjamin Franklin will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in the town of Hixon. Grandchildren Ryan Gay, Jessica Devine, Jennifer Gay, Joshua Pawlukiewicz, Mariah Bakken and Marissa Bakken will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation for Walter will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 until time of services at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen.
Walter Pawlukiewicz was born Aug. 10, 1922, in Lublin to Frank and Mary (Pomietlo) Pawlukiewicz. Walter married Matilda "Tillie" Karaba on June 13, 1953, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. Walter owned and operated Withee Oil Company from 1956 until his retirement. Walter was very involved in community affairs, in his church (Holy Rosary) and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Polkas were Walter's passion in life.
Walter is survived by his four children, Terry (Joy) Pawlukiewicz of Withee, Dan Pawlukiewicz of Owen, Jean (Steve) Gay of Altoona, Julie (Michael) Bakken of Menomonie; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and a brother, Frank Pawlukiewicz of Waterford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Tillie, and two brothers.
A special thanks to the Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona and its staff for the concern and care given to Walter during his stay there. Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home Abbotsford is assisting the family with arrangements.
