Dobbe, Mr. and Mrs. Edd (Golden - 24 June 1970)

Mr. and Mrs. Edd Dobbe of Rt. 1 Loyal celebrated their golden wedding with an informal open house at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mews, on Rt. 1 Marshfield Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Dobbe is a native of the Town of Beaver. The former Agnes Schmidt is the daughter of Godfrey and Johanna (Krause) Schmidt. After graduating from the Loyal High School in 1920, she was married to Edd Dobbe on June 24, 1920. They moved onto a farm east of Loyal.

Dobbe is the son of Louis and Carrie (Stenberg) Dobbe of Estherville, Ia. He attended school there and later came to Loyal with his brother, where they engaged in farming. Mr. Dobbe served in World War I and is now a member of the American Legion. He enjoys all kinds of ballgames on TV.

In 1924 they moved onto a farm northeast of Loyal, where they make their home now. He quit farming in 1958. As treasurer until three years ago, he had served the town of Beaver for 34 years. He also served on the school board, the church board and served on the AAA farm program for many years.

Their children are three daughters: Mrs. Victor (Virginia) Neubauer, Watertown; Mrs. Shirley Coulthurst, Gainesville, Fla.; and Mrs. Walter (Marlene) Mews, Rt. 1 Marshfield. There are six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One granddaughter was hospitalized at Watertown and could not attend.

Mrs. Dobbe is a member of the Legion Auxiliary and the Trim and Tidy Homemakers. She has many activities to keep her busy and is piecing and tying quilts for church missions at present. Both are active members of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Out-of-town guests came from West Allis, Watertown and Florida, as well as Marshfield and Loyal.
