Sheri Braun of Milwaukee is
spending a week at the home of Mrs. Clara Liebzeit and other relatives and
friends. Her aunt, Miss Catherine Braun, brought her here and went on to her
home in Eau Claire Monday evening.
Supper guests Tuesday at the Hugh
Severson home were Mr. and Mrs. Lester Schuette and Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Molle of
Unity, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ozanich of Milwaukee. On Wednesday Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh Severson accompanied the group to Miller’s Dam for a picnic.
Harry
Plunkett returned to Milwaukee Sunday after visiting his parents Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Plunkett. He was accompanied by his daughter, Ellen, who had spent several
weeks with her grandparents.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Krembs and family of
Huntsville, Ala., who are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Lesar, at
Willard, were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ignatz Koschak.
Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Corey and children and his mother, Mrs. Lee Corey, Mrs. Olive Newman
and Mrs. Alice Perkins were guests Sunday at the Gary Corey home in Neillsville.
Miss Mary Jo Koschak is spending a week with her sisters, Miss Bernadine
Koschak in Kimberly and Mrs. Frank Parkel and family in Madison.
Mr. and
Mrs. Edward Romang of Athens visited Thursday afternoon with their aunt, Mrs.
Christ Keiner, and were supper guests at the Hugh Severson home.
Mrs.
Robert Bogdonovich underwent an emergency appendectomy Sunday evening at
Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.
Dean and Douglas Rohde of River Falls
spent a week at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Rohde,
while their parents, Dr. and Mrs. Gary Rohde, attended a convention in Columbia,
Mo.
Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Reas of Marengo, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald
Hoagland of Nekoosa were guests Sunday at the Robert Stewart home.
Miss
Eleanor Krieg of Marshfield, her sister, Mrs. Margaret Seeley of Los Angeles,
Calif., and Debie Hartzell of Long Island, N. Y., were weekend guests at the
Merril Hare home.
Dinner guests Monday at the Thomas Querin home were Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Querin of Mt. Dora, Fla., and Mr. and Mrs. George Cleverley of
Buena Park, Calif.
Miss Beth Hare, Miss Mary Bukovec and Miss Christine
Groff returned Monday morning from Evanston, Ill., where they spent the summer.
Miss Barbara Verhulst, Miss Cheryl Verhulst and Miss Patti Jo Barr left
by plane from Minneapolis to spend a week with the Verhulst girls’ aunt, Miss
Corrine Verhulst, in Los Angeles, Calif.
Mrs. Anna Rossman was h9onord at
a “housewarming party” Wednesday afternoon at her new home on North Main Street.
A potluck luncheon was served at 1 p.m. Mrs. Rossman was presented with a gift.
Those present were: Mrs. Ruby Syth, Mrs. Kathryn Ivey, Mrs. Effie Swieso, Mrs.
Vera Wuethrich, Mrs. Henry Vollrath, Mrs. Alma Mason, Mrs. Florence Schwarze,
Mrs. Marie Meinhardt, Mrs. Erna Lemke, Mrs. Mary Klune, Mrs. Maud Huntzicker and
Miss Ivy Moore.
The Salem Aid met Tuesday afternoon in Zion United
Church. Mrs. Vernon Lust conducted the meeting. The Rev. David Logue presented
the lesson. A discussion was held on donating a new gate for the entrance at
Forest Hill Cemetery in Braun Settlement. A lunch was served by Mrs. Gust Horn
and Mrs. Otto Horn. The next meeting will be September 15. Hostesses will be
Mrs. Henry Horn and Mrs. Vernon Lust.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Horn and
daughters, Crystal and Patricia returned Tuesday evening after spending 10 days
on a trip to Mexico City, Mex., where they visited his brother, Jerome Horn and
family. Enroute from Chicago they visited in Janesville with his sister, Mrs.
Verne Vollrath, and family and in Madison with her brother, Charles Baker and
family.
Mrs. Harry Plunkett and grandsons, James and Joe Plunkett,
returned Tuesday from Tomah, where they spent since Sunday with relatives.
Mrs. Alice Perkins, Mrs. Irvin Carl, Mrs. Lee Corey, Mrs. Alice Speich and
Mrs. Olive Newman visited Wednesday at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville with
Mrs. Adelbert Wells and Mrs. Oscar Meinholdt.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Corey and
children have returned to Huron, S. D., after spending a week with Mrs. Lee
Corey here and with the Gary Corey family in Neillsville.
Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Querin arrived Sunday from Mt. Dora, Fla., to visit their son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Querin and family. Martha Querin, who had
spent three weeks in Florida with her grandparents, returned home with them.
Mrs. Wilfred Atcherson and daughters, Joyce and Alice, and Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Stewart, Doris and Eddie of Stanley, were recent guests at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Verhulst and Diane and
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Verhulst, have returned after visiting in
Milbank, S. D., at the Rev. and Mrs. Harold Verhulst home.
Mr. and Mrs.
George Collins and three grandsons, Ronnie, Dean and Gregg Vance, returned to
Rock Island, Ill., after a 10-day visit at the Herman Rust home.
Mr. and
Mrs. James Rahm and daughter, Jennifer, of Minneapolis spent the weekend with
her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Larson.
Dr. and Mrs.
Gary Rohde and family of River Falls came Saturday to spend a week with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart.
Mr and Mrs. Truman Hill were
visitors in Minneapolis Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Sowieja arrived Tuesday
from Milwaukee to visit his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Sowieja. Gary is
on a 30-day furlough prior to being stationed in Iceland.
Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Vollrath returned Tuesday after spending a week in Green Bay with their
sons and families. Their son, Dale, is in traction at a hospital there with a
back injury.
The American Lutheran Church women will meet in Our Savior’s
Lutheran Church tonight (Thursday) at 8 o’clock. Hostesses will be Mrs. Milton
Ystad, Mrs. Ralph Ystad and Mrs. David Wenger. A film, “All Doctrine is Social
Doctrine,” will be shown.
The Women’s Guild will meet in Immanuel United
Church Wednesday, September 2. Hostesses will be Mrs. Adolph Wendt and Mrs.
Phillip Vollrath.
Kara Beth, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome
Larson, was baptized by the Rev. David Logue during the Sunday morning service
at Zion United Church. Relatives entertained for dinner at the Larson home were
the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Vollrath; Mr. and Mrs. Phillip
Vollrath, Jr., and family and Mr. and Mrs. DuWayne Vollrath and family.
The combined Youth Fellowship met Sunday evening in the Zion United Church.
Margaret Fravert conducted the meeting. It was announced the Immanuel United
Church congregation will host the group at a roller skating party, date to be
announced later. Following the business meeting a film was shown. A lunch was
served by Brenda Lust and Sharon and Larry Logue. The next regular meeting will
be held in September. Hosts will be Charlene, Leroy and Betty Fravert and Joyce
Henaman.
A miscellaneous bridal shower was held Saturday evening in the
Town of Warner Hall in honor of Miss Delores Malaszuk of Thorp and Robert
Gardner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gardner of Greenwood, who will be married
September 12, in Thorp. The evening was spent playing cards. The hostesses,
members of the jolly Homemakers, served a lunch.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Decker and Mrs. Erna Wehrman attended the wedding of Sue Monnsen and Larry
Sebastian Friday in Mt. Prospect, Ill. They spent the weekend with relatives and
friends in Winchester, Ill., and Milwaukee. Vicki Wehrman returned home with
them, after spending the summer in Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Otto Voie
attended a reunion of the Thorson family Friday at the Elmer Erickson home in
Scandinavia. It was the first that that four sisters and their only cousin, Mrs.
Voie, had met in 42 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Brux attended the 36th
reunion of the Milltown High School class of 1934, held Saturday evening. They
spent the weekend with her brother, Clarence Belisle and family, at Balsam Lake.
Children and grandchildren helped Mrs. Robert Stewart celebrate her
birthday Wednesday evening. Those present were Dr. and Mrs. Gary Rohde and sons
of River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Duane Stewart and family of Springfield, Va.; Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Stewart and family of Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Stewart and
sons and Miss Mary Stewart of Eau Claire; and Esper Jepsen and children of
Greenwood.
John Felix is a patient at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.
