Porter, Pearl (12 January 1889 - 1
September 1970)
Funeral services for Mrs. Manly (Pearl) Porter, 81, of
Riplinger, who died September 1, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Roycraft
Funeral Home in Loyal. The Rev. Conrad Michelson will officiate. Burial is to be
made in the Loyal Cemetery.
The body will lie in state today (Thursday)
beginning at noon until the time of the services.
Mrs. Porter was born
January 12, 1889, in Wauzeka. She was a seamstress in her parent’s home until
her marriage to the late Manly Porter on November 17, 1913, in Lancaster. They
moved to several areas in Wisconsin, on a farm in Taylor County in 1919, Wood
County in 1944, Clark County in 1947, and moved to Riplinger in 1948, where she
had been a resident or the last 12 years.
Survivors include five
children: Charles and Mrs. Fred (Leora) Sell, both of Loyal, Glen of Wisconsin
Rapids, Earl of Manistique, Mich., and Mrs. Clarence (Jessie) Ramm of Medford;
four sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Mary Miller of Madison, Mrs. Elsie McCarthy,
Mrs. Esther McCarthy and Louis, all of Prairie du Chien, Charles of Wauzeka and
Mrs. George Odyne of Platteville; 29 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
