Miss Yvonne Joy Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil F. Hansen, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), and Howard Kotke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kotke of Cudahy, were married June 28th, 1947, at the Congregational Church, Owen, in a double ring ceremony, by Rev. W. Myron Glick.
The bride, given away by her father, wore a bridal gown of white satin and lace trimmed with a train and a two tier finger tip net veil. The string of pearls she wore was a string that had been worn by her mother. She carried a bouquet of yellow tea roses and sweet peas.
Attending her were her two sisters, Lorraine Roohr of Waupaca, as matron of honor, and bridesmaid Beulah Hansen of Cudahy, both of whom wore matching gowns of blue marquisette and carried identical bouquets of white and pink carnations. They both wore a string of pearls, which was a gift of the bride.
Sandra Roohr, niece of the bride, the flower girl, was dressed in yellow. While Thomas Johnson, a cousin of the bride, acted as ring bearer.
Eino Backa, uncle of the bride, and Floyd J. Clifton, cousin of the bride, were ushers.
Before and during the ceremony, which was held before an altar decked with flowers, of peonies and gladiolas. Mrs. George Crowe, an aunt of the bride, sang "Because" and "I Love You Truly," accompanied by Miss Kathryn Zivney, who also played the wedding marches. The ceremony was attended only by the immediate families and close friends of the young couple.
A supper was served that evening in the church parlors to 60 guests of the newlyweds, after which they left on a week’s honeymoon trip through the northern section of the state.
The bride is a graduate of the Owen High School, graduating with the class of 1944. Later she attended Electronic Radio & Television Institute in Minneapolis, and for the past couple of years has been employed at Cudahy.
