Loehrer, Josette (9 AUG 1947)
Beauty and dignity were marked characteristics of the wedding Saturday morning, Aug. 9th, 1947, at a half past ten o’clock, of Miss Josette Loehrer, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Loehrer of Melbourne, and Earl Gabriel of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), which was solemnized in the rectory of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. The Rev. Mark McLaughlin performed the impressive double ring ceremony.
White gladioli in large white baskets, and lighted white tapers in seven branched candelabra, formed a beautiful background for the wedding party in front of the mantel, which also held lighted candles. The bride entered with her father who gave her in marriage. Her dress of powder blue crepe was made with high necked yoke of matching lace and short sleeves. A small plaited peplum at the back of the fitted skirt gave the effect of a bustle. A shoulder length veil of illusion was attached to her hat of white horse hair braid, and her long gloves and other accessories were also white. She carried an arm bouquet of white gladioli tied with a shower of white satin ribbon, and this was later caught by Miss Denise Guerin.
Miss Bernice McTaggart, maid of honor, was dressed in pink gabardine made with high neck, short sleeves and full skirt. Her corsage was of ginger lilies. Her straw hat and other accessories were white.
The best man was Ernest Davies of Jacksonville. The ring bearer was the bride’s small brother, Peter Loehrer.
The bride’s mother was gowned in blue flowered sheer print, with small hat and other accessories of white, and her corsage was of ginger lilies.
A reception followed the wedding breakfast which was served at the Riverview Restaurant, and where covers were laid for ninety guests.
Mrs. Georgette Cotteret, the bride’s aunt, assisted Mrs., Loehrer in receiving, and also kept the bride’s book.
Mrs. Gabriel is a graduate of Melbourne High School in the class of 1946, and of the Massey Business College, Jacksonville. Both are employed in that city.
Among the out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Perkins, Mr. and Mrs. Bastingn, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Taylor and son, Orlando; Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Perkins, Miss Beverly Snoody and Ernest Davies, all of Jacksonville.
