Hawks, Ira S. (1866 - 2 NOV 1947)

Ira Stephen Hawks was born in Jefferson, Wis., in 1866. In 1890 he was united in marriage to Lucy Skidmore, who preceded him in death in 1934. Four children were born, Florence, Merwin, Donald and Dorothy. Dorothy drowned in 1922 and Florence died in 1924. Two sons, Merwin of Marengo and Donald of Withee, survive; also six grandchildren. For many years he operated a farm in Clark County. Later he operated a feed store in Abbotsford, and then a farm at Withee.

After his wife’s death he moved to Galesville, Wis., where he passed away after three months’ illness, Nov. 2, 1947, at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 1 day.
