Holmes, Ida Helene (? - 25 February 1950)

Mrs. Ida Helene Holmes, 87, has been interred in the Lynn Cemetery. She died Saturday, and final rites were held Tuesday.

Mrs. Holmes was known in the Granton community for her service in the Union Church. She was for many years superintendent of the Sunday school, was an honorary member of the Women’s Circle and formerly belonged to the Ladies’ Aid.

Mrs. Holmes was born in Germany and came to the United States with her parents at the age of 11. She completed her education in the public school at Lynn. Her maiden name was Ida Helene Iakisch.

She married at Lynn December 15, 1881, to Harold B. Holmes. They lived on a farm east of Lynn until 1907, when they retired and made their home in Granton. Mr. Holmes died in 1935.

Mrs. Holmes is survived by two daughters, Gertrude and Ina, who reside at home. A son, Frederick Robert, preceded her in death, as did a sister, Mrs. E. A. Beeckler. Two brothers survive, J. R. Iakisch, Denver, Colo., and Robert Iakisch, Keokuk, Ia.
