Wagner, Ernestine (12 August 1881 - 18 May 1950)

Funeral services were conducted on Monday at 2 o’clock at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church for Mrs. August Wagner who died at her farm home on Thursday evening. The body lay in state at the Georgas Funeral Home. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery, with Rev. Alfred Schewe officiating.

Ernestine Sauerberg was born August 12, 1881, in Germany. She came to this country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sauerberg, when she was two years old. They lived for a time in Illinois and Milwaukee, moving to Clark County in 1901.

She was married to August Wagner November 27, 1902, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Mr. Wagner preceded her in death in 1940.

She is survived by Mrs. Martin (Meta) Opperman and August Wagner of Milwaukee, Walter Wagner, Herbert Wagner of Neillsville; Mrs. Hal (Erna) Richardson of Somerset, Mrs. Laurence (Ruth) Andrews, Somerset and Frederick of Hales Corners. Surviving brothers and sisters are Otto and Fred Sauerberg, Grand Rapids, Mich., Rudolph Sauerberg, Milwaukee, and Dora Sauerberg of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

A daughter and two sons preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were: Carl Nemitz, Art Nemitz, George Church, Otto Wetzel, Emil Zank and William Zank.

Floral offerings were in charge of Mrs. August Klann, Mrs. Fred Seif and Mrs. Herman Klann. Wilfred Galstad sang, accompanied by Victor Lehman at the organ.

Persons from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Martin Opperman, Florence, Doris, Arlene and Sylvia Opperman, Mrs. Leroy Staege, Mrs. Gilbert Mlodzik, Dora Sauerberg, Mrs. William Schaller, Rudolph Sauerberg, Valiana and Madeline Sauerberg, Mr. and Mrs. August Wagner, all of Milwaukee; Mrs. Elsie and Norma Sauerberg of Whitewater; Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Wagner, Hales Corners; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sauerberg, Otto Sauerberg of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. William Klann, Mrs. Minnie Bartosz of Portage; Mrs. Arthur Schaefer, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Perry Larson and three children, Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Hal Richardson, Mrs. Lawrence Andrews and son, Michael, of Somerset.
