Krepsky, Margaret C. (7 Oct. 1907 - 22 Dec. 1956)
Three persons, one a citizen of Colby and one a former citizen of Colby, Wisconsin were killed in one collision on the wet, fog covered pavement of Highway 41 north of Fond du Lac Saturday morning.
Killed were Margaret C. Krepsky of Wauwatosa, a native of Colby; Mrs. George Krepsky of Colby and Louis E. Marks, age 68, of Oshkosh.
Miss Krepsky and Mrs. Krepsky, who were sisters-in-law, were killed at 9:26 A.M. Saturday when their car skidded into the path of Marks’ car two miles north of Fond du Lac on highway 41. Marks died shortly after he was admitted at St. Agnes’ hospital, Fond du Lac.
Witnesses said that Miss Krepsky, driving north, passed a semi-trailer truck. After the car had regained the right hand lane, it skidded across the center line and was struck broadside by Marks’ car.
Miss Krepsky was a laboratory technician in charge of the laboratory at Milwaukee sanitarium, 1220 Dewey Ave., Wauwatosa. She worked Friday and was going to Colby for Christmas.
It was the worst traffic crash in Fond du Lac county this year and raised the county toll to 16.
Funeral services for Miss Krepsky were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church Wednesday morning, Rev. John B. Pinion officiating, and services for Mrs. Krepsky were held in Zion Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Wm. R. Christian officiating. Burials were made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.
Pall bearers were Earl White, Al Holtzhausen, Merlin Schjoneman, Nick Gierl, I.M. Firnstahl and Frank Mauer.
Mrs. Krepsky, the former Dorothy Schade, was born in the town of Holton, Marathon county, on September 25, 1913, thus reaching the age of 43 years. She married F. George Krepsky at Colby on October 9, 1934. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Lynn; her mother, Mrs. Mary Schade of Colby; a sister, Mrs. Isabel Brandt of Colby; three brothers, Harold and Elroy of Milwaukee and Everett of Milan.
Miss Margaret C. Krepsky was born in Colby, Wisconsin on October 7, 1907, thus reaching the age of 49 years. She attended St. Mary’s School of Colby, Colby High School and St. Theresa’s College at Winona, Minn. Before becoming a technician at the Wauwatosa sanitarium, she had been employed in the same capacity for a number of years at Mercy Hospital, Mason City, Iowa.
Both Mrs. Krepsky and Miss Krepsky were well known here for their kindly and friendly disposition and their many friends and acquaintances were shocked to hear of their sudden death. Both were good Christians, honest in all their dealings, and will be sadly missed.
