Gerhardt, Willard G. (27 May 1888 - 1 October
1970)
Funeral services for Willard G. Gerhardt, 82, of Neillsville, who
died October 1, were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home. The
Rev. Lee Holmes officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mr. Gerhardt was born May 27, 1888, in the Town of Grant. He attended
the old Reed School, and married the former Martha Wilding on November 30, 1910.
They farmed on Rt. 1 Neillsville, for 50 years and then moved into the city8 in
1952. He was a former member of the Clark Electric board of directors and served
on the board of directors of the old Pleasant Ridge Creamery for several years.
Survivors include his wife and four children: Mrs. Theamore (Leone) Vine of
Granton; Glen of Madison; Dale of Seattle, Wash.; and Calvin of Neillsville; a
sister, Mrs. Ella Jensen of Cedar Rapids, Ia.; and three brothers, Walter of
Greenwood, Harold of Elmhurst, Ill., and Otto of Milwaukee; eight grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Lewis Scholtz, Clarion
Counsell, Horace Rodman, Tom Flynn, Leo Korth and Roger Ingold. Kendall Smith
sang, “The Lord Is My Shepard” and “Have Thine Own Way Lord,” accompanied by
Mrs. Jess W. Scott.
People attending from out-of-town included: Mr. and
Mrs. Glen Gerhardt, Roger Gerhardt, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Entwistle, all of Madison; Mrs. Neil Johnson of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. William
Mueller, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Beguette of Fairchild; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kernz, Jr.,
of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Werner Doehr of Chili; Mr and Mrs. John Syth, Walter
Gerhardt of Greenwood; Irving Gower, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Johnson, Mrs. William
Vine, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Vine, Mr. and Mrs. Theamore
Vine and David and Richard Vine, Mr. and Mrs. Milford Rowe, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred
Moldenhauer and Mr and Mrs. Irving Vine, all of Granton.
