Mrs. Roy J. Burns, 63, nee Helen Klinke, daughter of the late
Frank and Katherine Klinke was born in Neillsville on Sept. 2, 1890 and passed
away in the Dickenson County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, June 23, 1954
following an illness of a month. She had been a resident of Kingsford, Mich. for
the past 32 years.
Mrs. Burns was very active in civic affairs, was a
past president of the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Women's Club, chairman of the
Junior Red Cross for several years, and also served on the executive board of
the Girl Scouts.
She leaves, in addition to her husband, a son, Robert J.
burns of Milwaukee; a sister, Mrs. Arthur Barton of Neillsville, Wis.; and a
brother, Joseph F. Klinke of Denver, Colo.
Services were held at 8:45
a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 1954 from the funeral home, and at 9:00 a.m. in S.S.
Mary and Joseph's The Right, Rev. Msgr. A.C. Pellener intoned the requiem mass.
Burial was in Cemetery Park.
Mrs. Burns was well-known in Clark County,
being one of our first supervising teachers. She as a graduate of the Greenwood
High School with the class of 1908.
