Lakosky, Susan (1895? - 1 MAR 1929)

Citizens of Loyal ceased from their labors Monday morning to pay a farewell tribute to Mrs. Fred Lakosky, wife of the village president, whose death occurred early Friday morning at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Injuries which proved fatal were received three months ago at the death of Mrs. Fred Church, an intimate friend of Mrs. Lakosky, while the latter was rendering neighborly assistance at the Church home. A fall from the first floor to the basement resulted in a broken neck and almost complete paralysis, and in spite of all that skilled surgeons could do, death was inevitable.

Mrs. Lakosky, who maiden name was Susan Rystikan, was born 33 years ago in Manitowoc, in which city she was married Jan. 29, 1917, to the husband who survives her. Three children were born to them, Clarence 11, and Verland 5, and one, which died in infancy. Five years ago the family came to Loyal, where Mr. Lakosky purchased the implement business conducted previously by Fred Schmidt. They soon became prominent in social and civic circles, and in St. Balthazar's Catholic parish, with which they affiliated upon their arrival.

The immediate surviving relatives also include the parents of Mrs. Lakosky, Mr. and Mrs. John Rystikan of Manitowoc, and four sisters, Mrs. Simon Lesperance and Mrs. John Budnick of Manitowoc; Mrs. Harvey Fricke, Sheboygan, and Mrs. Ben Gonke, Two Rivers.

A requiem high mass was held Monday morning at 9 o'clock in the Catholic Church, with Father Joseph Stenz officiating. Six members of the village board, Edwin Kinkel, August Lemberg, John Geiger, Gust Voight, Alfred Krieser and Joseph Andraska served as honorary pallbearers, and the active pallbearers consisted of Edward Bertz, Jos. Esselman, Albert Frobe, Alfred Hass, Frank McGonigal and William Theisen, most of whom are members of the Holy Name Society. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Among the out of town relatives who arrived for the funeral were the parents of the deceased and the parents of Mr. Lakosky, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lakosky of Wausau, besides the sisters and their husband, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Paska of Wausau and Fred Pushak of Chicago. (Marshfield News Herald)
