Lis, Marilyn Janet (10 June 1932 - 31 August 2013)

Marilyn Janet Lis, 81, formerly of Gilman, died Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Lake Hallie Memory Care Center, where she was a resident since May. She was born on June 10, 1932, to the late Peter and Kathryn (Hodowanic) Leja. Marilyn attended area schools and graduated from Stanley High. On June 16, 1951, she was united in marriage to Frank Lis at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huron. She attended Chippewa Valley Technical College and received her degree in dietary management and worked at Zastrow Care Center for many years. Marilyn love to cook especially preparing meats and making wine.

She is survived by her children: Susan (James) Schley of Gilman, Lynne Morris of Nebraska, Janet (Ken) Finke of Cornell, James (Rhonda) of Lublin, Dine (Dave) Hunt of Stanley and Dean (Lisa) of Neillsville; 28 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one sister, Jeanie Hodowanic of Gilman; and a son-in-law, Carl Berg of Gilman.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Frank (2001); her parents; a daughter, Judy; two grandsons: Daniel and Kirby Webster; one brother, Harold Leja; and one sister, Delores Cox.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church with father Madanu Sleeva Raju officiating. Inurnment followed in St. Mary’s Polish National Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. Plombon Funeral service assisted the family with arrangements.
