Bardell, Clarence A. (4 November 1893 - 7 October 1970)
Clarence A.
Bardell, 76-year-old Neillsville resident who suffered a gunshot wound to his
head last week Wednesday morning, died at 11:40 p.m. that night in a Marshfield
hospital. A bullet which entered below the lower jaw, had lodged in the brain.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday from the Georgas Funeral
Home here, with The Rev. George Yons of the United Church of Christ in charge.
Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mr. Bardell, who had
served as janitor at The First National Bank here following his retirement and
return to Neillsville from Illinois, was born November 4, 1893, in Leaf River,
Ill. His parents were the late William and Minnie (Meyer) Bardell. He came with
his parents when a boy to locate on a farm in the town of York. On June 1, 1915,
he was married to the former Nina Parrett in Greenwood. They farmed in the
Neillsville area until 1948, when they moved to Illinois, where he engaged in
carpenter and construction work.
Surviving besides his wife is: a son,
Wilbur of Antioch, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Emma Semft of Delaware, O; three
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: William
Weast, Carl Thoma, Fred Subke, Carl Kessler, William Schwellenbach and Forest
Gault. Kendall Smith sang, “Good Night and Good Morning” and “The old Rugged
Cross,” accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

Mrs. John Parrett of Freeport, Ill.; Ronald Parrett of West Allis; Mr. and Mrs.
Neil Seefeld and family of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Crossett, Mrs. Byrl
Lawrence, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Vandeberg of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hannan
