Albrecht, Lorin A. (31 DEC 1920 - 10 SEP 2013)

Lorin A. Albrecht, 92, Town of Bern, Marathon County, died on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. James Krueger officiating. Interment will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II in Medford, with full military honors performed by the Medford Military Honors Team.

Active pallbearers are his grandchildren, Pete, Todd, Terry, Travis, Zachary, Michael and Jason Albrecht and Derek Vaughan. Honorary pallbearers are also his grandchildren, Tracy Chipman, Amy Albrecht, Amber Riley, Tanya Clyde, Elizabeth Vignali, Craig Chipman and Adam Vaughan.

Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m., and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Lorin Albrecht was born on December 31, 1920 in Minneapolis, Minn., to the late Arthur A. and Laura (Peterson) Albrecht. He attended Gad School.

On August 4, 1942 in Dubuque, Iowa, he married Leona A. Dassow, who preceded him in death on August 6, 2013. He served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946, and received the Purple Heart. He owned and operated Gad Cheese Factory from 1959 until his retirement in 1984.

He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, and lifetime member of Central Wisconsin Cheese and Butter Maker's Association where he served on the board of directors and was a past president, and the Klossner-Dietzler VFW Post No. 5729 of Medford, and was a past member of Wisconsin State Cheesemaker's Association where he also served on the board of directors. He enjoyed trips to Canada for fishing, reading, especially westerns, hunting, snowmobiling, traveling and trips to the casino.

Survivors include five children, Lorna Chipman, Gary (Georgine) Albrecht and Larry (fiancée Jane Lekie) Albrecht, all of Medford, George (Donna) Albrecht of Niceville, Fla., and Bruce (Diane) Albrecht of Gad; a sister, Loretta Vogt of Mesa, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Michael and David Albrecht, and a sister, Irene Krogstad.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
