Burggraf, Marian L. (Nikolai) (30 MAR 1925 - 16 SEP 2013)

Marian L. Burggraf, 88, Stratford, died on Monday, September 16, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stratford, with Rev. John Robert Alphonse officiating.

Entombment will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Wausau.

In lieu of flowers memorials to the family are appreciated.

Marian L. Burggraf, 88, Stratford, died on Monday, September 16, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stratford, with Rev. John Robert Alphonse officiating.

Entombment will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Wausau.

Marian was born on March 30, 1925 in Marshfield, the daughter of William and Katherine (Zinthefer) Nikolai. She attended Marshfield schools and later received her G.E.D. from Stratford High School. She was united in marriage to John H. Burggraf, Sr. on May 18, 1946 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield. He died on April 17, 1992.

The Burggraf’s had farmed in the Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County from 1946 until their retirement in 1978. Marian had worked in nursing services at St. Joseph’s Hospital from 1967 until her retirement in 1990. After retirement Marian worked seasonally at Marshfield Canning Company, Figi’s and Del Monte Company in Plover. She had been a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 6352 Auxiliary of Stratford.

She is survived by 11 children, John (Lois) Burggraf of Janesville, Rita (Steve) Schneeweis of Saukville, Paul (Brenda) Burggraf of Stratford, Tom Burggraf of Wausau, Ruth Burggraf of Spencer, Ed (Anne) Burggraf of Milwaukee, Gloria (Troy) Stewart of Estherville, IA, Mike (Jean) Burggraf of Omaha, NE, Dan Burggraf of Eau Claire, Jim (Lilly) Burggraf of Colorado Springs, CO, and Gerianne Fox of Auburndale. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Eugene (Ann) Nikolai of Berlin, a sister, Valeria Johnson of Costa Mesa, CA, a sister-in-law, Helen Nikolai of Unity, a brother-in-law, Larry Brinkman of Virginia and many nieces and nephews who adopted her as their mom.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a son-in-law, Rick Fox and nine siblings.
