Podevels, Lena (27 Mar. 1865 - 26 Sept. 1957)

Mrs. Lena Podevels of Colby, Wisconsin died last Thursday, at the age of 92 years, at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, where she had been a patient for one week, a heart attack being the cause of her death. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Peace Lutheran church in the town of Frankfort and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Frank and Melvin Wink, Alvin Roeglin, Melvin Gerhardt and Delbert Podevels, all grand children.

The former Lena Furhmann was born in Germany on March 27, 1865, and came to Colby with her family in 1883. Her marriage to Ernest Podevels took place in Chicago on October 9, 1886, after which they moved to the town of Hull and engaged in farming.

Eight of their 13 children survive. They are Mrs. Louisa Roeglin of West Allis, Mrs. Herbert (Ida) Wink of Waupaca, Mrs. ?eanette Schulz of Spencer, Mrs. Ernest (Viola) Kading of Sheboygan and Herman, Eugene, Albert and Edward, all of Colby, Wis. Also surviving are 28 grand children, 57 great-grand children and one great, great grand child.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kading and Mrs. Floyd Clark and children of Sheboygan, Mrs. Nettie Schulz and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ringquist of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. James Ek and son and Miss Gladys Schulz of Chicago, Mrs. Caroline Furhman of Fenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wurthman, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schorer, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gieger of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. George Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Forhman and Fred Forhman of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kaisershot, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Manecke and family of Edgar, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Forhman of Loyal, Mrs. Lee Schmitt, Mrs. Rob. Butler, Frank Wink, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wink, Mrs. Louise Roeglin, Alvin and Art Roeglin, Mrs. Betty Ovinshire and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Meshing, Gerhardt and Melvin Podevels of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Podevels and family of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Wink of Waupaca, Mrs. Robert Elkins of St. Louis, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pipps of Ironwood, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Anton Okenson of Eau Claire and many friends and relatives of Colby, Edgar and Stratford.
