Smith, Joan Jean (Marriage - 27 June 1950)
The Methodist Church at Loyal was the scene of the wedding on June 27, 1950, of Miss Joan Jean Smith, daughter of James A. Smith, and Vernon Allen Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Smith all of Loyal.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, chose a wedding gown of white satin accented with an off-the-shoulder scalloped collar, a fitted bodice, and a full skirt which swept into a long train. Her finger-tip veil of imported Belgium lace flowed from a tiara of seed pearls.
Attendants for the couple were Miss LaVade Smith, gowned in nile green taffeta, Mrs. Edward Braun, sister of the groom and Miss Gail Colby, who both wore gowns like that of Miss Smith, Eldon Smith, a brother of the groom as best man, and Edward Braun, as groomsman. Vern Gardner and Rodger Mathews were ushers.
The couple plan to reside on a farm near Loyal. They will make a delayed honeymoon trip in September.
